Texas FFA mobilizes recovery efforts after deadly floods

As authorities continue to investigate the full scale of human loss from the recent flooding in Central Texas — at least 120 people confirmed dead and over 160 still missing as of Friday — farmers and ranchers are beginning to assess the damage to their land, crops, and livestock. Many now face the difficult task of tending to surviving animals, salvaging what remains of their harvests, and beginning the long process of clearing debris and rebuilding.

Texas FFA is actively supporting communities affected by the floods, providing direct relief, mobilizing its members, and fostering a spirit of unity and compassion during this difficult time.

“When one Texas community hurts, we all step up,” said Jennifer Jackson, Texas FFA Executive Director. “Over the past week, the devastating floods across parts of Central Texas have caused heartbreaking damage and loss. But in the face of tragedy, we have seen incredible resilience, service, and compassion from across the state. The Texas FFA family is united in our commitment to stand with these communities as they recover and rebuild.”

FFA members and partners across the state have mobilized quickly to support relief efforts. We are seeing local gift card drives, supply collections, and donations from individuals and businesses alike. The outpouring of support from local FFA chapters has been especially inspiring. From organizing community fundraisers and coordinating volunteer teams to collecting essential supplies and personally delivering aid to those most in need. Their commitment and compassion truly embody the spirit of our organization.

In an effort to help, Texas FFA is offering a limited-edition Texas FFA + Texas Flood Relief T-shirt in adult, youth, and toddler sizes, along with stickers and car decals. All profits will benefit those suffering from the Texas floods. Individuals can purchase at texasffa.myshopify.com.

In addition, the association has activated the Texas FFA Crisis Fund to directly support FFA members, their families, and agricultural science programs affected by the disaster.

“In Texas FFA, we believe leadership starts with service,” said Jackson. “Right now, that means standing with our fellow Texans, lending a hand where we can, and showing these communities the strength of our unity. We are proud of our members and grateful for every partner and supporter stepping up in this time of need.”
