At the market close, March corn was up 1¾¢ at $4.47 per bushel.

January soybeans were up 2¢ at $11.33½ per bushel.

“From our perspective, grains have a little momentum here,” said Reese Drenth, ag solutions specialist with Michlig Ag Solutions. “Trump and Xi are talking, we’re selling some beans, the corn program keeps chugging along, and this snow storm is about to create some logistical issues. This comes at a time where ethanol plants are making decent margins and bean plants are crushing like crazy as well. The market needs grain every day and Mother Nature’s about to make that a bit more challenging.”

March CBOT wheat was down 1½¢ at $5.39¢ per bushel. March KC wheat fell ½¢ at $5.29½ per bushel. March Minneapolis wheat was unchanged at $5.70½ per bushel.

December live cattle were up $3.15 at $216.07 per hundredweight (cwt). January feeder cattle increased $4.45 at $319.57 per cwt. December lean hogs jumped 80¢ at $82.17 per cwt.

At 9:30 a.m. CT, January crude oil was up 58¢ at $59.23 per barrel.

The S&P 500 Index was up 20.21 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 222.03 points.

The December U.S. Dollar Index was up 18 points.
