Can-Am Unveils Groundbreaking 2026 Off-Road Lineup

Can-Am has announced its next-generation off-road lineup for 2026, introducing a wave of innovation across utility and recreational vehicles. From a fully electric ATV to an overhauled Defender workhorse, the new models are designed to push performance, durability, and rider experience to new heights.

“Innovation is at the core of Can-Am’s DNA,” said Julie Tourville, Director of Global Marketing, Can-Am Off-Road. “From the first full-size production electric ATV to the next generation Defender, we’re pushing the limits to give our riders more performance, comfort, and reliability than ever before.”

The all-new Defender HD11

Trusted by farmers, ranchers, and outdoor adventurers, the 2026 Can-Am Defender has undergone a ground-up redesign.

At its core is the new HD11 999cc inline three-cylinder Rotax ACE engine, delivering 95 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an all-new CVT and pDrive primary clutch, the Defender offers improved low-speed power delivery, enhanced reliability, and selectable drive modes (Normal, Work, and Sport).

Key upgrades include:

  • New suspension geometry with a 65-inch-wide stance and 50 percent larger arched double A-arms.
  • Best-in-class 15 inches of ground clearance and 12 inches of suspension travel.
  • A reinforced chassis and new ROPS for added toughness.
  • A larger 11.9-gallon fuel tank for extended workdays.
  • 262mm front brake rotors with twin-piston calipers for stronger stopping power.

Inside, the Defender features the largest cab in its class with 8 percent more legroom, improved seating, and an updated HVAC system in Limited and Lone Star models. A new 10.25-inch touchscreen display with built-in GPS, backup camera, and BRP GO! app integration elevates connectivity.

With over 200 available accessories and a 1700W charging system, the Defender can be fully customized for both heavy-duty tasks and recreational adventures.

Breaking new ground: Electric and 6×6 Outlanders

For 2026, the Quebec-based company is also introducing significant innovations in its ATV lineup.

The 2026 Can-Am Outlander Electric is the company’s first full-size production electric ATV. Powered by the modular Rotax E-Power pack, it delivers 47 hp, 53 lb-ft of torque, and up to 50 miles of range. With fast-charging capability (20 percent to 80 percent in 50 minutes on Level 2) and whisper-quiet operation, it’s ideal for land management and eco-friendly adventures. Despite its silence, it maintains Can-Am toughness with a 1,830-lb towing capacity and over 120 available accessories.

Meanwhile, the Outlander MAX 6×6 is engineered for extreme conditions, the Outlander MAX 6×6 delivers unmatched utility. Equipped with a 999cc Rotax V-Twin engine producing 101 hp and 69 lb-ft of torque, it features six-wheel traction, arched double A-arms, SHOWA shocks, and beadlock wheels with 30-inch tires. This makes it the hardest-working ATV in Can-Am’s lineup, capable of tackling terrains others can’t.

The new Outlander XT-P and MAX Limited models debut Smart-Shox semi-active suspension, an industry first for ATVs. With real-time electronic adjustments and four ride modes (five on MAX versions), riders can seamlessly switch between comfort, work, and sport performance.

Rock-crawling dominance: Maverick R X rc

Building on the 240-horsepower Maverick R platform, the new Maverick R X rc is purpose-built for rock crawling. Drawing from Can-Am’s success at the grueling King of the Hammers race, the X rc introduces:

  • Extra Low gear range and ROCK mode for Smart-Lok differential.
  • 35-inch XPS Hammer King tires, a FOX steering damper, and heavy-duty protection components.
  • Enhanced skid plates, rock sliders, and an anti-intrusion bar for rugged terrain.

This makes the Maverick R X rc the ultimate tool for conquering Moab, the Rubicon, or any rocky challenge.

The Maverick X3 remains a staple but gets refinements for 2026. Updated LED lighting with 1700+ lumens improves visibility, while select packages now come standard with the 10.25-inch touchscreen display, GPS, and Group Ride features for offline rider tracking. A new X Turbo package adds premium features, including a 4,500-lb winch, bumper, roof, and half doors.
