At the market close, December corn was down 2¢ at $4.24¼ per bushel.

November soybeans were down 3¢ at $10.09 per bushel.

“Very slow trading session again,” said Jamey Kohake, senior risk manager with Pinion. “Mexico did buy corn overnight, which was pretty much the only news. The market is waiting for yield results but early reports are showing a smaller crop that what the USDA has projected.”

December CBOT wheat was down 1¢ at $5.19½ per bushel. December KC wheat decreased 4¾¢ at $5.06¾ per bushel. December Minneapolis wheat was up 4¼¢ at $5.42½ per bushel.

December live cattle were down $1.92 at $236.82 per hundredweight (cwt). November feeder cattle were $2.95 lower at $357.80 per cwt. December lean hogs fell $2.60 at $88.12 per cwt.

November crude oil was up $1.42 at $64.83 per barrel.

As of 3:24 p.m. CT, the S&P 500 Index was down 18.95 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 171.50 points.

The December U.S. Dollar Index was up 612 points.

Mixed Morning in Grains: 9:25 a.m. CT

Just before 9:30 a.m. CT, December corn was down 1¼¢ at $4.25 per bushel.

November soybeans were down 1¢ at $10.11 per bushel.

“Not much has changed fundamentally since [Tuesday]. The U.S. harvest is gaining momentum with more reports of less than expected yields, mainly on corn.” Karl Setzer, partner with Consus Ag Consulting said, “Corn yields are highly variable, though, making it difficult to accurately predict overall crop size. Trade is of the belief that the U.S. corn crop will in fact be smaller than current USDA estimates, but is hesitant to adjust total production until more confirmation is seen.”

December CBOT wheat was up 1¼¢ at $5.21¾ per bushel. December KC wheat fell 1½¢ at $5.10 per bushel. December Minneapolis wheat increased 11¼¢ at $5.38¼ per bushel.

December live cattle were down 52¢ at $238.22 per hundredweight (cwt). November feeder cattle were 92¢ weaker at $359.82 per cwt. December lean hogs dropped 95¢ at $89.77 per cwt.

November crude oil was up $1.02 at $64.43 per barrel.

As of 9:15 a.m. CT, the S&P 500 Index was down 2.32 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 48.48 points.
