Ahead of 9:15 a.m. CT, December corn was up 3½¢ at $4.38¾ per bushel.

January soybeans were up 13½¢ at $11.47¼ per bushel.

March CBOT wheat was up 1¼¢ at $5.53¾ per bushel. March KC wheat was up 1½¢ at $5.43¼ per bushel. March Minneapolis wheat was up 2¢ at $5.86¼.

With the government shutdown over, USDA has begun releasing data. This morning the agency released the weekly U.S. Export Sales report for the week that ended on Sept. 25.

“USDA pegged net U.S. corn export sales for the week ended Sept. 25 at 55.8 million bushels, with net weekly soybean sales at 32 million bushels and net wheat export sales at 11.6 million bushels,” said The Brock Report. “The data is stale, but the corn sales total looks supportive for prices, while soybean sales look neutral, and wheat sales look a bit negative for prices.”

Tomorrow USDA is expected to release the November World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, the first since before the shutdown. Bob Linneman, commodity broker with Kluis Commodity Advisors, said: “The USDA report tomorrow has many question marks surrounding it, and we haven’t even seen the numbers yet. Traders are concerned about how the USDA will be able to provide accurate information during a time when the government was shut down and staff was not required to report to work.” He added if the trade perceives the numbers to be “off,” or unbelievable, “we could see the trade shake it off and resume the current trend.”

As of 9:14 a.m. CT, January feeder cattle were down $4.05 at $323.43 per hundredweight (cwt). December live cattle were down $3.18 at $222.10 per cwt. As of 9:16 a.m. CT, December lean hogs were down $1.83 at $78.80 per cwt.

As of 9:14 a.m. CT, December crude oil was up 56¢ at $59.05 per barrel.

As of 9:16 a.m. CT, the U.S. Dollar Index December contract was down to 99.12.

As of 9:12 a.m. CT, the S&P 500 Index was down 31.48 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 45.76 points.
