A Huron County, Michigan, investigation has uncovered a multi-county tractor theft ring linked to a Sebewaing man accused of stealing and reselling farm equipment across Michigan.
According to ABC12 News, Sheriff Kelly Hanson reported that Jeffery S. Nunnery, 54, faces multiple felony charges after deputies recovered several stolen items, including a Massey Ferguson utility tractor taken from a shed in Rubicon Township, a John Deere utility tractor believed to have been sold in the Hemlock area, and a utility trailer stolen from Roscommon County.
Nunnery remains in the Huron County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond, and further charges are possible as investigators trace additional property.
The Huron Daily Tribune reports that the case began after Sebewaing Police Chief Steve Repkie shared tips that led investigators to uncover what Hanson described as a “multi-county theft ring.” The sheriff’s office is now urging John Deere owners across Michigan to verify serial numbers and ensure their equipment has not been stolen.
Authorities are also warning buyers to take precautions when purchasing used equipment, including verifying VIN or serial numbers, obtaining a bill of sale and seller ID, and checking databases such as the National Equipment Register before completing private transactions.

The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement working to identify additional victims and recover more stolen property.
