John Deere Unveils All-Electric Gator GX Models for Quiet and Efficient Utility Work

John Deere is adding two new Gator models to its lineup — the GX and GX crew — running entirely off electric power.

The new models are built for residential and rural property owners to handle light-duty jobs such as transporting people, hauling gear, and moving landscaping materials.

“The Gator GX lineup offers property owners the opportunity to increase productivity around their properties with less noise, less maintenance and more versatility,” said Eric Halfman, John Deere go-to-market manager. “These utility vehicles are intuitive and durable while offering users the comfort, reliability and convenience they expect from a John Deere Gator.”

Fast and Quiet

The new Gator GX and GX Crew models are built with a comfortable ride in mind. Both models run on a 51-volt lithium-ion battery, which provides a quieter driving experience compared to gasoline-powered equivalents. The battery has a rated capacity of 5.376 kilowatt-hours and charges overnight.

The electric power source removes operating emissions and provides instant torque and smooth acceleration. Both models have a top speed of 19.5 mph.

The UTVs have a cargo capacity of 800 pounds, and towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. An optional cargo box mat protects the box from wear and tear, while also providing slip resistance.

The Gators have high-back ergonomic seating, canopy protection, and intuitive controls for an easy operating experience. The GX Crew’s additional row of seats allow for more passengers, while also folding down when more cargo space is necessary.

The cab features two USB-A ports, two cup holders, under-hood bin, three dashboard compartments, center seat storage, and under seat trays.

Maintenance has also been streamlined thanks to the battery, with zero fuel, oil changes, or belt replacements to worry about.

Other options include a lighting kit, and a JDLink M modem for connectivity and fleet management.

Price and Availability

The GX models are available in John Deere green and yellow, or grey metallic colors. The Gator GX Electric starts at $17,499, while the GX Crew Electric starts at $19,499.
