Case IH Releases Visual Search for Parts

Machinery repairs can now be a quicker process thanks to Case IH’s new AI visual search tool. By using the camera search button on mycnhstore.com, farmers and dealers simply take a picture of a needed part, and the tool will return the part number so it can be ordered.

“The site is easy to use and geared toward customers,” said Paul Zirk, with Case IH e-commerce marketing. “Once you upload a photo, it takes you to a parts listing page, and you can filter down from there to the exact part you need.”

The tool works best on mobile devices but can also be used on a desktop computer. All that’s required is a photo; however, additional information, such as model and serial numbers, can be input to refine search results.

For best results, pictures should be taken with the needed part removed and isolated on a plain background, but Zirk said tests have been successful with the part still intact, by using the zoom feature to isolate the area in question.

“We’ve taken pictures of burned parts, rusty parts, and had good results come back,” he said. “I took a picture of a muffler and the system was intelligent enough to refer back to the individual parts that comprise the muffler so I could select the one I wanted.”

The tool is available now for Case IH current production tractor models, and will be rolled out to include additional product lines soon. Eventually, the system will work with older equipment, as well.
