Whether through social media posts or reflections at home, families hail the youngsters who discover how to win and lose with grace, set and pursue goals, and nurture another living being. The U.S. House voted on Friday to repeal an Environmental Protection Agency rule that would effectively push gas-powered vehicles out of the U.S. marketplace. Because roughly a third of the corn produced each year has been used in ethanol, the EPA rule has not been well received by the agricultural sector since it was first adopted in March. “The members of Congress who passed this legislation understand well that there are many different tools that we can use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Minnesota farmer and National Corn Growers Association President Harold Wolle. He had previously stated that the…

As someone who spends a lot of time working with livestock and managing farm tasks, I was eager to test the DryShod Evalusion All-Around Shoe, and they didn’t disappoint. After using these shoes for feeding livestock and washing 4-H show animals, I’ve found them to be a reliable and comfortable option for everyday farm work. I’ve always worn a pair of waterproof boots for muddy days with livestock, and I even have a pair that I like to take skiing and hunting with me. The United Nations General Assembly is about to convene a High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in New York later this month. Despite the impact that AMR could have on society, this is only the second time the issue has been addressed at this level. The meeting’s purpose is to address AMR’s wide-reaching implications, including its impact on food security and the global effort to meet the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. And it makes sense that a topic like AMR is addressed on a global scale. The problem isn’t limited to one country, and it doesn’t stop at any…

The 2025 Old Farmer’s Almanac is projecting this coming winter to be far different than the previous year’s expectations: Things are looking gentler across most of the United States. “This winter, temperatures will be up and snowfall down throughout most of the United States,” reports Carol Connare, the almanac’s editor-in-chief. “While there will still be plenty of chilly temperatures and snow for most slopes, the high heating costs associated with the season shouldn’t hit so hard. We’re predicting a temperate, uneventful winter — potentially a welcome reprieve from the extremes of recent years.” There will be exceptions, of course. Winter…
