Arizona FFA Foundation blue & gold gala raises record $646,677

With more than 13,000 FFA members in 84 agricultural education programs across Arizona, the Arizona Agricultural Education/FFA Foundation has continued to play a critical role in strengthening opportunities for students and educators statewide since 1985.

That mission was on full display on January 31, when the Foundation hosted its 10th Annual Blue & Gold Gala, a night that also marked 40 years of the Foundation’s impact on Arizona agriculture education.

Held at the Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa, the event lived up to its reputation as “The Biggest Night in Arizona Agriculture.” Alumni, educators, industry leaders, sponsors, and supporters gathered for an evening celebrating youth, leadership, and the enduring power of agricultural education.

“This milestone not only marked ten years of this incredible event, but also 40 years of the Foundation,” Executive Director Rochell Planty shared. “I am still in awe of what this night represented and what we accomplished together.”

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, auction participants, and supporters of the Gift from the Heart initiative, the gala raised a record-breaking $646,677 — funds that will directly support agricultural education and FFA programs across the state.

“There were so many meaningful moments last night,” Planty reflected. “One of those moments for me was seeing past FFA members in attendance, especially those proudly wearing their FFA jackets to commemorate 50 years as Past State Officers. It was a powerful reminder of the lifelong impact this organization has on students and educators.”

Another highlight of the evening was the presence of several founding board members, a visible reminder of the legacy that continues to grow through each generation of FFA supporters.

“The impact of this night will be felt for years to come, and none of it would be possible without those who continue to believe in and support this event,” Planty noted. “Thank you for making such a significant difference.”

Bethany Matos, State FFA Executive Secretary, captured the heart of the evening in her reflections following the event:

“Last night was truly something I will carry with me for a long time. The Biggest Night in Arizona Agriculture — the 10th Annual Blue & Gold Gala — was more than an event. It was a reminder of what community really looks like.”

She continued, “We were blessed beyond words to break a record, raising $646,677 — and I know these funds will change lives in the same way so many lives in that room were changed by their own FFA journeys.”

For Matos, the evening was about more than the total raised.

“Honestly, even more than the number, what meant the most was simply being in a room filled with love, belief, and support,” she said. “Feeling surrounded by others who care so deeply about the future of our students and our industry. My heart is full.”

Much of the success of the night was credited to the leadership behind the scenes, including Rochell Planty, who leads the Arizona FFA. One supporter shared proudly, “I would be hard pressed to find anyone who works as hard for FFA advisors and members. Her passion for doing good things for kids will leave a legacy like no other … Did I mention she raised $646k in one night?”

From past state officers to first-time attendees, the Blue & Gold Gala brought together people who care about keeping Arizona’s ag education programs strong. The record-setting $646,677 raised will go right back into supporting students, advisors, and local programs across the state.
