New Growmark Tool Predicts Corn Yields Weeks Before Harvest

A new tool from Growmark aims to help farmers get an earlier read on corn yield potential — and see how close those early predictions come to harvest results.

In 2025, the myFS Agronomy platform analyzed data from nearly 5 million acres across the Midwest, using aerial and satellite imagery to estimate county-level yields. The estimates ranged from about 255 bushels per acre in central Iowa to around 190 in southern Illinois, reflecting the season’s regional differences.

Checking Field Performance Before Harvest

At the farm level, the tool has been within 5% accuracy on yield predictions made in late July and early August. That early information, says Brendan Bachman, myFS agronomy director and a farmer in south-central Illinois, helps growers plan ahead.

“The myFS Agronomy app allows yield predictions as early as mid-June for enrolled growers, giving farmers a general feel for yield trends earlier in the season, and this will only improve as more acres are added,” Bachman said.

The platform pulls together imagery, soil data, and hybrid information to fine-tune field-by-field estimates. As combines roll, yield monitor data automatically flows back into the app to strengthen future predictions, Bachman said.

Data-Driven Decisions and Flexible Pricing

Brad Drake, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Growmark, said the tool helps farmers make better use of the data already at their fingertips.

“myFS Agronomy is designed to be the hub that brings many of these data sources together to make profitable and productive decisions for their farms,” Drake said. “As myFS Agronomy’s technological capabilities continue to grow, the application will generate valuable insights to help farmers throughout the growing season.”

According to the company, the basic myFS Agronomy app is free for FS customers and includes core tools such as hyperlocal weather insights, real-time ag markets, digital scouting reports, and disease modeling. It also connects systems and communication channels, the company added, allowing FS crop specialists and farmers to share field data in one place.

For advanced users, remote sensing analytics packages range from $1.50–$9.00 per acre, depending on the level of imagery and data included. The Yield Prediction feature, purchased separately, costs $1.50 per acre, though it’s included in several bundled packages. Prices may vary by local FS cooperative.

Connecting Data, Weather, and Markets

Beyond yield prediction, the app connects with the myFS Solution Center to track weather, markets, and field conditions, helping FS crop specialists have better data-based discussions with customers.

Farmers interested in enrolling can contact their local FS Crop Specialist or visit FSSystem.com.
