Ahead of 9 a.m. CT, July corn was up 2¾¢ at $4.93 per bushel.

July soybeans were down 2¢ at $10.45¾ per bushel.

July wheat contracts were mixed. CBOT wheat was down less than a penny at $5.61¾ per bushel. KC wheat was up less than a penny at $5.70¾. Minneapolis wheat was down less than a penny at $6.18¾.

At 3 p.m. CT today, USDA is expected to release the weekly Crop Progress report. Arlan Suderman, chief commodities economist at StoneX, said the report “should show good planting progress for the past week, but that is expected to slow somewhat this week into next, with rains focusing mostly on central and western portions of the Midwest.”

Al Kluis, managing director of Kluis Commodity Advisors, said, “I have several farmers in the northern Corn Belt that have over 50% of the crop planted. Some customers in Illinois are done with corn and soybeans.”   

June live cattle were down 15¢ at $203.93 per hundredweight (cwt) ahead of 9 a.m. CT. August feeder cattle were down $1.33 at $289.55 per cwt. June lean hogs were up 35¢ at $98.38 per cwt.

June crude oil was down $2.06 at 61.95 per barrel.

The U.S. Dollar Index June contract was down to 98.

June S&P 500 futures were down 81 points. June Dow futures were down 554 points.
