Multiple trips in and out of a semi while unloading may be a thing of the past with the AGI Westfield X-Tend retracting swing auger. Able to move side to side and extend in and out, the auger’s design allows for repositioning between hoppers without moving the truck.
“The overall concept is that it allows the operator to keep their truck in one position, and the X-Tend can reach both hoppers to unload the semi,” said Josh Kelly, portable territory sales manager for AGI. “They’re not having to get back into the truck and move it multiple times.”
The X-Tend auger is available in 13-inch and 16-inch models, from 84–114 feet. The low profile positions easily under grain trailers, and a hydraulic power swing allows for precise movement.
According to AGI, safety is improved because drivers are making fewer trips in and out of the semi cab and operating the auger requires less physical effort.
“You’re not hopping over it or running around it; you just stand beside it to operate,” said Kevin Primmer, portable territory sales manager for AGI. “You’re not lifting or bending over, pushing with your back.”
The X-Tend auger can also benefit operations with less-experienced drivers.
“There are a lot of drivers who are younger or not used to tighter spaces,” Primmer said. “This keeps them from having to back in and out of smaller areas, and keeps them from accidentally running over the hopper auger.”
X-Tend augers are available now through AGI’s dealer network.
