New Holland is expanding transmission options and adding heavy duty features to its PowerStar medium utility tractor for model year 2025.
The new models in the updated PowerStar series range from 86—117 hp, and run on a FPT Industrial 3.6-liter four-cylinder engine. New Holland touts a larger fuel tank and 600-hour service intervals on the series.
The 12×12 transmission with a column-mounted electronic power shuttle is available on the three largest models — the PowerStar 100, 110 and 120. The 24×24 Dual Command transmission is available as an option on all four models. The Dual Command transmission features the same electronic power shuttle as the 12×12, but provides a Hi-Lo speed in each of the four gears.
Both transmissions also include Dynamic Start-Stop or “brake-to-clutch.” When activated, operators will simply need to press the brake pedal to stop the tractor and then release it to start driving again.
The tractor weighs more than previous iterations, allowing it to pull heavier implements, and the new heavy-duty front axle enabled New Holland to introduce a new loader design to the series.
“By designing the tractor and the loader at the same time, we’re able to follow the styling of the hood of the tractor, adding visibility,” said Lena Patton, product marketing manager for New Holland. “We’ve moved the loader mounting brackets backwards, moving the center of gravity of the tractor towards the rear axle, which helps with stability.”
Farmers can select the non-self-leveling 650LU loader, or the mechanical-self-leveling 655LU for greater lift capacity. All models in the series have a multi-connection coupler designed to streamline the process of removing or installing the loader by enclosing all hydraulics into a single housing.
Tractors with Dual Command transmissions can build the PowerStar with a new joystick. The joystick controls the loader, shuttling, shifting between Hi and Lo, and toggling preset engine speeds.
The cab features a new air suspension seat and digital instrument cluster. A window on the roof increases visibility when the loader is raised to full height. ComfortRide cab suspension can be added to the tractor.
