As of 9:35 a.m. CT, March corn was down 5¢ at $4.44½ per bushel.

January soybeans were down 9¼¢ at $11.44¼ per bushel.

March CBOT wheat was down 4¾¢ at $5.54¼ per bushel. March KC wheat was down 5½¢ at $5.37½ per bushel. March Minneapolis wheat was down 2½¢ at $5.85½.

This morning, Naomi Blohm, senior market advisor with Total Farm Marketing, explained soybeans rallied on Monday because of rumors China was buying U.S. soybeans. Yesterday, USDA confirmed the rumor, announcing China purchased 792,000 metric tons of soybeans for the 2025/2026 marketing year. “But the market already priced in the news on Monday,” she said.

She noted soybean sales to China for the marketing year amount to 1.1–1.2 million metric tons, adding: “We have a ways to go to hit that 12 million metric tons.”

“Further sales (or lack thereof) of soybean exports will continue to drive price volatility,” she said.

Following her comments, USDA announced more sales this morning. The agency said China is buying 330,000 metric tons of soybeans for the 2025/2026 marketing year. This ups the total Blohm referenced to 1.4–1.5 million metric tons.

As of 9:35 a.m. CT, January feeder cattle were down $3.20 at $322.85 per hundredweight (cwt). February live cattle were down $3.08 at $217.78 per cwt. February lean hogs were up $2.03 at $80.05 per cwt.

January crude oil was down $1.49 at $59.18 per barrel.

The U.S. Dollar Index December contract was up to 99.89.

As of 9:31 a.m. CT, the S&P 500 Index was up 58.22 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 90.93 points.
