PTx Trimble released the NAV-960, its newest GNSS receiver for precision autoguidance.

The NAV-960 is an update to PTx Trimble’s previous model, designed to provide an increase in speed, processing power, and accurate positioning. It is designed to help farmers save on inputs and avoid fatigue during long planting days.

“As the precision ag industry evolves, we are focused on innovative solutions that make it easier for farmers to tackle the critical challenges they face in the field, and to do so in a way that creates added value,” said Andrew Sunderman, vice president of product and customer experience.

The NAV-960 comes standard with current PTx Trimble steering systems, as well as GFX series displays like the GFX-350, GFX-1060, and GFX-1260 models. The NAV-960 uses the same cables as the NAV-900 controller.

Upgrades

The new, more accurate controller is expected to help farmers cut input costs by reducing overlap in the field. The enhanced GNSS engine and inertial censors are expected to provide up to 50% more accurate vehicle positioning and line-following performance when compared to the NAV-900. The upgraded design boasts “centimeter-level” accuracy when used in conjunction with Trimble CenterPoint RTX or RTK correction signals.

The product also offers an enhanced quad core processor, which will increase calculation and data-delivery speeds.

The NAV-960’s industrial design features an aluminum base and aerodynamic shape, built to withstand a variety of extreme weather conditions. Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth will make it easier for service teams to support farmers who implement the NAV-960.

Farmers are encouraged to pair the NAV-960 with Trimble ProPoint technology and Trimble IonoGuard to avoid downtime caused by solar events and scintillation,
