Today, USDA published the 15th Crop Progress report of the 2025 growing season. Here’s a look at the latest corn, soybean, wheat, and oat numbers.

Corn

As of July 13, 34% of the corn crop across the country’s top 18 corn-growing states had reached the silking stage. That’s just ahead of the five-year average of 33%.

USDA said 7% of the crop across 11 states had reached the dough stage. The five-year average is 5%.

The agency reported the condition of the nation’s corn crop as follows:

  • Good/excellent: 74%
  • Fair: 21%
  • Poor/very poor: 5%

Soybeans

The USDA said that as of July 13, 47% of the soybean crop across the top 18 soybean-growing states had reached the blooming stage, right on track with the five-year average.

Fifteen percent of the crop in 17 states had reached the setting pods stage, while the five-year average is 14%.

Only South Dakota’s crop was not setting pods as of July 13. That’s behind schedule — the five-year average for the state is 5%.

For the week that ended July 13, the condition of the nation’s soybeans was as follows:

  • Good/excellent: 70%
  • Fair: 25%
  • Poor/very poor: 5%

Winter Wheat

The USDA reported that 63% of the winter wheat crop across the top 18 states had been harvested as of July 13, just shy of the five-year average of 64%.

Arkansas’ harvest reached 100%, while Montana’s still hadn’t begun.

Spring Wheat

In the six spring wheat-growing states, 78% of the crop had headed as of July 13. That’s ahead of the five-year average of 75%.

The condition of the spring wheat crop was as follows:

  • Good/excellent: 54%
  • Fair: 33%
  • Poor/very poor: 13%

Oats

Across the nine top oat-growing states, 92% of the crop had headed by July 13, ahead of the five-year average of 90%.

Harvested oats across seven of the nine states reached 12%, on track with the five-year average.

The condition of the nation’s oat crop was as follows:

  • Good/excellent: 59%
  • Fair: 25%
  • Poor/very poor: 16%
