Corn down a penny at midday | Tuesday, March 21, 2023

Corn is down a penny at midday while soybeans are currently flat. 

CBOT wheat is down 13¢. KC wheat is down 10¢. Minneapolis wheat is down 2¢. 

Live cattle are up 68¢. Lean hogs are down 58¢. Feeder cattle are up 63¢. 

Crude oil is up 71¢. 

The U.S. Dollar Index is at 102.89. 

S&P 500 futures are up 25 points. Dow futures are up 164 points. 

Grains start day in the green: 9:06 a.m. CDT

Corn is currently up 2¢ while soybeans are up 10¢. 

Al Kluis, managing director for Kluis Commodity Advisors, says “I am watching the bull spreads work in soybeans, which suggests strong nearby demand. I would not be surprised to see some sales to China reported later this week.”

While no recent soybean purchases have been announced yet, USDA did announce another purchase of corn. China is buying an additional 136,000 metric tons of corn for the 2022/2023 marketing year. 

CBOT wheat is currently up 2¢. KC wheat is up 10¢. Minneapolis wheat is up 9¢. 

Live cattle are down 15¢. Lean hogs are up 10¢. Feeder cattle are down 48¢. 

Crude oil is up $1.46. 

S&P 500 futures are up 41 points. Dow futures are up 291 points. 

Milling wheat is up on the European MATIF exchange. Corn and No. 1 soybeans are up on the Chinese Dalian exchange.
