In February, we made a big splash with the inaugural Farm Cruise — the world’s first “floating farm conference.” It was more than just an event; it was an experience that brought farmers together like never before.

Farming is a demanding lifestyle, often requiring long hours with little time off. Many farmers dedicate themselves entirely to their operations, rarely stepping away to relax and recharge. The Farm Cruise — which left from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and sailed to the Bahamas — changed that by offering the perfect balance of education, networking, and vacation — something truly unique in the agriculture industry. As the co-founder of this event, I wanted to do something the industry has never seen before.

For the hundreds of farmers who attended, this was an opportunity to step away from the daily grind, bring their families along for the ride, and enjoy a well-deserved break — all while still engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of agriculture.

So what made the Farm Cruise so special? It combined the best elements of a traditional farm conference — top-notch speakers, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and farm tours — with the fun and relaxation of a cruise. I partnered with Jason Beukema of Whet Travel to nurture a true coMOOnity and family experience and fun to be had by all.

From the moment attendees stepped on board, they were immersed in a community of like-minded people, all passionate about agriculture. The sense of camaraderie was immediate. There was laughter, storytelling, and an undeniable energy that made the experience feel more like a reunion of old friends than a first-time event.

Networking was a major highlight. Farmers from across North America, including some of Canada’s largest producers, connected through AgVisorPro and the Canadian PowerFARM Group, led by Rob Saik. Social media played a huge role in strengthening these connections, bringing together farmers who had previously interacted online but never met in person. Education remained at the heart of the Farm Cruise. Throughout the trip, attendees had access to industry-leading speakers, breakout sessions, and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics. Uncommon Farms led a breakout session on the Financial Outlook for farming in 2025 and beyond. Saik led his PowerFARM Group through a “mini conference” in the mornings on the ship. AgriFinancial tested our farm knowledge with game and trivia night.

Some of the biggest names in agriculture, particularly influential figures on social media, headlined the event, sharing their insights on how farmers can better communicate their stories and navigate the challenges of modern agriculture. This wasn’t just about sitting in on lectures– it was about engaging in discussions, asking questions, and exchanging ideas in a relaxed and inspiring environment.

For example, I sat on a panel with Jimmy D Jones III and Saik on How to Build a Social Media Following. Saik shared the famous Nut Milking video and explained how that turned into a viral sensation and its impact on agriculture and policy. Since it was a smaller crowd for a breakout session, people felt comfortable opening up about their own questions, struggles, and success stories on how they go about having a bigger impact in the realm of agricultural advocacy.

The crowd trended toward row croppers and cattle, but there was certainly a mix. Jones, for example, is a sweet potato grower and farmer entrepreneur from North Carolina.

Lesley Kelly (aka High Heels and Canola Fields) led a breakout session on how to create video storytelling as an on farm revenue stream. FarmFitMomma Amanda Niggs led morning workout sessions on the helicopter pad! Every social media influencer brought their own talent and special highlight to The Farm Cruise.

And then there was Randy the Farmer from Field Rows, who delivered his first-ever concert! It was a hilarious moment that combined music, farming, and fun — truly a perfect fit for this one-of-a-kind event. Annaliese Wegner and Courtney Feigl also did a live podcast episode of Ag’s Most Okayest Farm Girls on board.

One of the main highlights of the cruise was the farm tour on the island in Nassau, Bahamas. It’s one thing to talk about agriculture — it’s another to see it firsthand in a completely different environment.

In partnership with BAMSI, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Maillis Farm, where we explored tropical agriculture in action. Farmers got an up-close look at how crops like mangoes, starfruit, bananas, cassava, jujus, jackfruit, and more are grown in the region. The experience was eye-opening, showing just how diverse farming can be across different climates.

The tour wasn’t just educational — it was an experience. With Mr. Maillis’ private beach access and a delicious catered meal, it was the perfect blend of learning and relaxation.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a cruise without plenty of fun!

Themed dress-up nights brought out some fantastic costumes and plenty of laughs. Attendees enjoyed games, prizes, and entertainment every night, making for an atmosphere that was both lively and welcoming. The energy was contagious, and it was incredible to see farmers—who are often so focused on their work — let loose and enjoy themselves.

And let’s not forget one of the most talked-about excursions: Swimming with the Pigs! This unique experience had everyone smiling, as attendees got to interact with the famous pigs in crystal-clear waters.

The combination of professional development, networking, and pure fun made The Farm Cruise an unforgettable experience.

If you missed this incredible event, don’t worry — Farm Cruise 2026 is already on the horizon! We’re setting sail from Galveston, Texas, to Cozumel, Mexico, from January 29 to February 2, 2026. This is your chance to be part of the world’s only “floating farm conference” — a place where farmers can learn, connect, and relax all at once.

Mark your calendars, grab your spot early, and sign up for the pre-sale. From Soil to Sail, let’s continue celebrating agriculture together. See you on board!
