When hooking up a gooseneck trailer, I place an extendable magnetic pickup tool on the ball in the bed of my truck. Using a vertical line painted on the front center of the trailer hitch, I line it up with the handle of the magnetic tool. Once the hitch knocks the magnet off the ball while I’m backing up, I know I am there.
