The For Farmers Movement, a nationwide organization that champions small and mid-sized farms, has opened nominations early for its annual grant program. Community members can nominate farmers through the For Farmers Movement website until October 31, 2025, with 100 grant recipients set to be announced on December 3, 2025.

The grant initiative provides direct financial support to farmers who need help repairing equipment, recovering from natural disasters, expanding operations, or maintaining productive land. Nominating a farmer offers communities a way to recognize the essential role producers play in feeding families and sustaining rural economies.

The organization was founded on a simple idea: if more people understood the hard work farmers do and the value they bring to local communities, the environment, and the economy, they’d be inspired to invest in them. The For Farmers Movement unites farmers, chefs, consumers, and advocates under one belief — that when farmers thrive, everyone benefits.

“Supporting local farmers doesn’t have to be complicated,” notes For Farmers Movement Founder Dana DiPrima. “For Farmers offers several easy ways to support your local farmers — by nominating them for high-impact grants, fulfilling a wish from a farmer wish list, and even by donating just a $1 dollar to support a grant. Every action at For Farmers has a big impact.”

Since its start in 2022, the effort has distributed 190 grants across 46 states, offering between $500 and $3,000 for individual or collaborative projects. Those funds have helped repair essential equipment, fund infrastructure, and spark innovations that strengthen family farms.

New this year, up to 10 grant recipients will be invited to apply for a $10,000 farm grant, recognizing projects with the potential to make a broad impact on their communities.
