AGCO has announced four new Fendt 1000 Vario Gen4 tractors, with Fendt DynamicPerformance engine intelligence and factory-integrated OutRun autonomy.
The new Gen4 runs on a 12.4-liter MAN D26 engine. The tractors — the 1040, 1044, 1048, and 1052 — range in maximum horsepower from 400–520 hp. With Fendt DynamicPerformance, farmers are able to manage engine power, reducing horsepower to match an implement’s needs and increase fuel efficiency, or increase output by a maximum of an additional 30 hp, depending on the model.
The tractors use VarioDrive CVT, Fendt’s stepless transmission that manages the whole drivetrain. The VarioDrive is designed for dynamic driving at any speed from 0.01–31 mph, variable all-wheel drive up to 15 mph, and a smaller turning circle with the pull-in turn effect. The pull-in turn effect, combined with VarioGrip tire pressure regulation boosts machine productivity and protects soil.
Operator Experience
The Gen4 models feature a newly-developed cab with new optional interior comforts, including ergonomic foot pegs, an added coolbox, and cabin dust extraction. A massage seat is also available for those looking for the ultimate tractor relaxation experience.

New to the Gen4 models is the 360° lighting concept with the UltraVision LED lighting package.
“If you’re driving with a grain cart, and you have a combine behind you, you can turn off certain pods so you don’t blind the combine operator,” said David Soliday, senior marketing manager for tractors at AGCO.
This package includes:
- Four LED lights in the hood
- Up to 12 LED lights on the roof
- Up to six LED lights on the A-pillar and fenders
- Two lights on each the C and B pillars of the cab
- GroundVision rear targeted lighting
At its maximum brightness, the lighting package is bright enough to “light up a football field,” according to Soliday.
OutRun Autonomy
Alex Gray
The PTx OutRun autonomous system can be unlocked from the factory on the 1000 Gen4 series — a first for AGCO’s machinery lineup — with no retrofit required. OutRun has been available as a retrofit solution for select John Deere tractors in 2025, with wider compatibility planned to come in the future. The system is capable of running autonomous grain cart operations, aligning the tractor with an unloading combine during harvest.
Autonomous tillage functions will be available on the integrated and retrofit OutRun systems starting in 2026.
“[PTx OutRun is] for farmers that are struggling with labor efficiency, just trying to do timely operations on their farm to enhance their agronomic outcomes,” said Bryce Baker, North America tactical marketing at Precision Planting. “OutRun becomes, essentially, a retrofit, mixed-fleet multitask autonomy system.”
Availability
