American Dairy Association North East is offering two scholarships for college students who have completed one year of post-secondary education and are interested in agriculture, dairy product marketing, dairy manufacturing, agricultural communications, journalism or dairy product nutrition. Applications are due online by December 31.
Applications for the $500 Leo Briggs Memorial with American Dairy Association North East Scholarship must have exhibited leadership in dairy promotion, and applicants for the $1,000 Dawn Houppert Memorial with American Dairy Association North East Scholarship must be a current or former dairy ambassador or dairy princess from New York.
All applicants must reside in the ADA North East region of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and northern Virginia. They should demonstrate leadership in dairy promotion and an interest in agriculture or dairy-related fields such as dairy product marketing, dairy manufacturing, agricultural communications, journalism, or dairy product nutrition.
The application requires a list of student and civic organization involvement with roles and responsibilities, a 400-word essay explaining interest in agriculture or nutrition and why you want a career in the field, and an uploaded recent transcript, along with an electronic signature. All materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2025, and the winner will be announced by February 28, 2026.
“These scholarships are an investment in the future of the dairy industry,” said New York dairy farmer and ADA North East President Audrey Donahoe. “We encourage current and former dairy promoters from within the region with an interest in the dairy industry or agriculture industries to apply.”
