As of Nov. 10, another top corn-growing state joined Texas in completing this year’s corn harvest, and three more top soybean-growing states joined Minnesota in wrapping up soybean harvest. Here’s a closer look at which states are done, according to USDA’s most recent Crop Progress report.

Corn Harvest: North Carolina

Joining Texas as the second of the top 18 corn-growing states to have completed 2024 corn harvest is North Carolina. Corn harvest in the Tar Heel State reached 100% after a one percentage point increase for the week ending Nov. 10. With that, progress is just ahead of progress last year and the five-year average, both 99%. 

North Carolina was the first of the top 18 states to finish corn harvest last year. Corn harvest progress reached 100% on Nov. 12, 2023.

Soybean Harvest: Louisiana and the Dakotas

The week ending Nov. 10, three more of the top soybean growing states joined Minnesota in finishing 2024 soybean harvest. 

Soybean harvest in Louisiana, which came in at 99% the week prior, reached 100% according to USDA’s report for the week ending Nov. 10. That’s on track with 100% last year and the five-year average of 100%.

Louisiana was the first of the top 18 soybean-growing states to finish soybean harvest in 2023. Harvest reached 100% the week ending Oct. 29, 2023, according to USDA.

Farmers in North Dakota finished harvesting the last 2% of their soybean crop during the week ending Nov. 10 to wrap up the 2024 soybean harvest. With that, the state is 4 percentage points ahead of last year at this time and 6 percentage points ahead of the five-year average.

South Dakota’s soybean harvest reached 100% after increasing 2 percentage points in the week ending Nov. 10. With that, the state is 1 percentage point ahead of last year at this time and 3 percentage points ahead of the five-year average.
